Statement of Purpose:

     The Last Mile Foundation is organized, registered and operates as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization to provide support and funding for the facilitation of the global "We Are ... Step'n Ahead" weekend workshop and the "We Are ... Step'n Ahead at The Last Mile" week long workshop which is located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

     While there are thousands of rehab programs in the U.S. treating addiction and addiction-related illness, more commonly referred to today as "disease," the Step'n Ahead workshops are designed to function as alternatives to

the conventional treatment of alcoholism ... providing a bridge to a sober way of life.  The only cost to the

attendee is a minimal registration fee to help cover the costs of their take-home materials.  If an attendee cannot

afford to provide the registration fee, The Last Mile Foundation will gladly grant eligible applicants a scholarship.

     In the new millenium, alcoholism treatment has been assimilated into the realm of addiction treatment by treatment professionals and insurance providers and as such is no longer being treated independently as it's own specific dilemma, thereby relegating the "spiritual illness" concept into relative obscurity.

     Prices for addiction treatment range from $5,000.00 to $50,000.00 and more for a 10 to 28 day program.  We do not wish to express an opinion on this matter or the matter of treatment itself.

     After reviewing the background of the Step'n Ahead workshops, research that went into their methodology, imperical evidence of their success, and the meteroic savings to the attendee (as well as we the taxpayers) due to the minimal registration fee set forth to attend either workshop, we have decided to support and fund their efforts.

     With that said, why should folks spend 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, even up to FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS or more for an alcoholism treatment experience BEFORE trying Step'n Ahead at The Last Mile's workshop methodology, a method that embraces a proven 75% success rate for alcoholics?

     Now that is a good question indeed!

     Step'n Ahead workshops are designed to get an alcoholic started on the road to recovery -- or back on the road of recovery -- without the additional stress of a large financial burden, unmanageable time constraints, or record keeping that can lead to public disclosure.

     Step'n Ahead's workshops are dedicated to three goals:

  • Alcoholism (self) determination;

  • Twelve Steps preparation;

  • Successful transition into long term recovery.

     We Are ... Step'n Ahead workshops do not interfere with or compromise AA's usual twelfth step work nor do they present information which contradicts AA's description of the spiritual illness of alcoholism or AA's approach to recovery from alcoholism in Alcoholics Anonymous.

     The focus of Step'n Ahead workshops are three-fold:

  • Illuminate an obscure, deadly aspect of the spiritual illness of alcoholism -- The ISM Factor;

  • Identify and describe how symptoms associated with The ISM Factor adversely affect and threaten recovery, and constitute a predisposition to a Syndrome of Faulty Emotional Dependency;

  • Share actions to take to side-step and overcome these threats. adversities and faulty emotional dependencies.

     The Last Mile Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to the proposition that any still sick and suffering alcoholic, be they sober or in their cups, and regardless of ability to pay, should have an opportunity to be made aware of and introduced to a better way of life, a way of life that has proven paramount to overcome an alcoholic way of life.  We Are ... Step'n Ahead workshops provide just such an opportunity.  To this end, we are organized.
